Crescent Classic 2017: Ferraris Run the Arkansas Ozarks

Every September the mountain roads above Eureka Springs, Arkansas fill with the unmistakable wail of Ferrari V8s and V12s. That is the Crescent Classic, a multi-day driving rally named for the historic 1886 Crescent Hotel that crowns the Ozark ridgeline above town. This is not a static car show. These cars come to be driven, and driven hard, through some of the best switchback roads in the region.

The 2017 running brought out the usual spread of Maranello’s finest, from classic front-engined GTs to modern mid-engined screamers, every one of them earning its keep on the throttle rather than on a show field. A handful of other marques came along for the drive, but make no mistake: the Crescent Classic is a Ferrari event, and the prancing horse set the tone from the first fuel stop to the last mountain pass.
